LNB recently gave a presentation about its development at 1 Dianella Way Aldinga.
1 Dianella Way Aldinga is a cluster of up to eleven homes located on a 3600m2 lot within Aldinga Arts Ecovillage. Homes are designed to minimise energy and make maximum use of space. Each home has a galley kitchen, plenty of storage space, private courtyards, front and backyards, car parking and a small shed. Two, three and four bedroom options are available as well as single and two story (mezzanine) homes.
Homes have rainwater tanks, solar hot water heating and photovoltaic panels to reduce living costs. Community vegetable gardens are a feature of the shared common spaces around the homes. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around.
Facilities available within the adjoining Ecovillage are also available for owners at 1 Dianella Way – a community shed, a wood-fired pizza oven, friday evening shared meals, an outdoor amphitheatre for movies under the stars. The Aldinga Arts Ecovillage operates on principles of permaculture: gardens and orchards are organic. A community farm is being developed. Recycling and care for the environment is encouraged. In buying a home at 1 Dianella Way, you are getting all this, plus the opportunity to live life with more intent!
The Ecovillage is home to people of all ages. Older people have discovered it as an alternative to congregating in a retirement village. It’s a strong community where everyone is encouraged to get involved and the contribution of elders is valued. A community help tree operates to support people when they need it.
Children too love the natural environment and many families are attracted by the good schools located within walking or driving distance. Your neighbours come from all walks of life – artists, gardeners, professional people and tradespeople, retired and working.
Aldinga is a fast growing area. Popular because of its great beaches and proximity to McLaren Vale and all that Fleurieu has to offer, there is now a large shopping and commercial centre close by. The new train station at Seaford opened in February, providing a 50min trip to Adelaide. But Pt Willunga beach is only 5mins away and surfs’ up!
The best places to live are those where you have privacy as well as a strong community and a sense of belonging. So if you’re looking for a deeper level of community; if you value sharing resources to extend living, playing and garden spaces; if you want neighbours of all age groups and an opportunity to get involved, then 1 Dianella Way may be the place for you.
